Hair Saloon Adopts Buddy Fund as Official Charity - December 17, 2008

Saloon raises awareness for Golfing for Kids fundraiser June 17

MAY 23, 2008: ST. LOUIS, Mo.- Throughout the ages, sports has been the catalyst by which men have developed friendship, community, values and purpose. So it is fitting that Hair Saloon For Men picked a local sports-focused nonprofit as its official charity.



This year, Hair Saloon for Men adopted the Buddy Fund, a St. Louis-based organization that donates sports equipment to children, as its official charity.



"The role of sports in children's lives is so important," said Tom Twellman, President and Founder of Hair Saloon For Men. "The Buddy Fund believes, and we agree, that getting kids involved is sports helps strengthen their minds and bodies and gives them self confidence. It's a perfect fit for our company and clientele."



The Buddy Fund, founded in 1962 by sports announcer Buddy Blattner, provides sports equipment to area organizations that use organized sports to help at-risk kids in need of guidance and direction. The Buddy Fund is based on the philosophy that sports contributes to the positive development of young minds and bodies and teaches valuable life lessons in respect, determination, teamwork, goal-setting, success and failure.



"The Buddy Fund is a small St. Louis charity run by a dedicated group of volunteers with a history of helping kids through sports," Twellman said. "The Buddy Fund provides communities with safe, modern sports equipment so that their sports-based programs are successful."



As part of this partnership, Hair Saloon will be an information headquarters for the Buddy Fund, which will help increase community awareness as well as charitable donations.



Hair Saloon is proud to support The Buddy Fund's next fundraiser, "Golfing for Kids," which will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, at Forest Park.
