29 years

Hair Saloon News

March 12, 1997.

That’s the day my dad unlocked the doors to the very first Hair Saloon. What began as a dream has grown into something far bigger than any one person ever could have imagined.

Yes, we’ve built Saloons. We’ve delivered millions of haircuts. We’ve created a brand that so many guests trust. But Hair Saloon was never just about haircuts.

Hair Saloon is about the people.

It’s about the people who walk through our doors every day—our guests who trust us with a small but meaningful part of their lives. And it’s about the people who wear the Hair Saloon name—our franchise owners, our team members, and all those partners and vendors behind the scene that make this thing tick – who show up every day ready to serve, ready to care, and ready to make someone’s day a little bit better.

Every day we have the privilege of doing something pretty special. We get to serve people. We get to connect with them. Sometimes in small ways, sometimes in meaningful ways—but always in ways that matter.

I was reminded of that just last week.

I was in one of our Saloons shooting some social media content and struck up a conversation with a guest in the lobby while he waited for his appointment. Let’s call him Dan.

Dan shared that he’s a divorced father of six and manages fleet operations for a local logistics company. As we talked, he opened up about something much heavier—he’d lost a son after battling a terminal illness. As we talked, he spoke about it with a sense of peace, knowing his son was in a better place.

And yet there he was.

He told me he had been coming to that Saloon for more than 20 years. Two decades of haircuts, conversations, and visiting a place he felt comfortable walking into.

Then he smiled and said his favorite part of the whole experience…the hot towel. He said, “No matter what kind of day you might be having and your day could be going awful, and that hot towel wipes it away!” I couldn’t have said it better myself, Dan!

In that moment, it hit me again.

What we do matters. Not because of the haircut alone, but because of the experience. Because of the consistency. We build relationships chair by chair, visit by visit, year after year. Dan reminded me of this and the opportunity we have with the conversations we hold — the stories we don’t know about someone unless we talk to them.

For 29 years, Hair Saloon is a place where people can come in, take a seat, and be taken care of—even if it’s just for a short while.

That’s the dream my dad started.

And today, it lives on through all of you.

Thank you for showing up for our guests. Thank you for showing up for one another. And thank you for carrying this dream forward every single day.

As a final thank you, thank you to my dad. It’s an honor every day to pick up the torch.

Here’s to 29 years… and many more! May God continue to bless Hair Saloon and all who walk through its doors!
